Native to cold-water tributaries of the Pacific basin in North America and Northeast Asia, Steelhead are one of the top sport fish ranging from Northern California up to Alaska.
If you didn't know, Steelhead are the same species ( Oncorhynchus mykiss )as Rainbow Trout, however they live in the ocean and travel up our waterways to spawn between 3 to 4 times in their life cycle. Whereas Rainbow Trout are "land locked" and live in fresh water their entire life.
